We had a chance for a quick trip up to Mosca before the snow came last week and the colors were great. Only about 1/3 of the trees had turned then so I’m sure that if you went up right now you would still find it amazing. We took our ATV’s just for fun but you will be fine in any car as long as it has not rained in the last few days. One section of the road can be a bit bumpy so just take your time.
This Monday (10/10/11) we took a ride up the East Fork of the San Juan, AMAZING!!! We took our lunch for a quick picnic in Quartz meadow. I didn’t bring my fly rod and wished that I did because the river was looking great. If you are thinking about a trip up the east fork you will want a 4 wheel drive to go past the turn to Quartz off of FSR 667. Be sure to stop and take the easy hike to silver falls. Hunting season starts today (10/15/11) but don’t let that stop you from going out to enjoy this beautiful weather we are having. Wear some orange if you have it or other bright color if you don’t. Stay close to roads and have fun.
